Teaching in Hazaribag since 2000

Hazaribag has learnt to speak English in this room for over twenty five years

One classroom has been teaching people to speak English for over twenty five years. WINGS now runs that course alongside full classroom coaching for SSC, Banking, Railway, JSSC CGL, JPSC and CTET.

If you can read this sentence and still cannot say it out loud, you are exactly the student we built the Foundation batch for.

About the institute

Over twenty five years of English, taught by Maan Sir in Hazaribag

WINGS began in 2000 as a single English speaking class run by Maan Sir in Hazaribag. Thousands of students have passed through it since. Some of them now work in banks, some teach in schools, some run meetings in English every morning, and a good number still say their first confident English sentence was spoken in that room.

The course list grew because the students asked for it. Year after year the same request came back: we can speak now, but where do we prepare for the exam itself. So WINGS added separate batches for SSC, Banking, Railway, JSSC CGL, JPSC, Jharkhand Police and CTET, and built an English speaking slot into every one of them. Academic excellence is not a slogan on the board. It is the reason the same families keep sending the next child here.

More about WINGS

What Maan Sir tells a new batch

Our favourite student is the one who walks in and says, I know nothing. That student learns the fastest, because there is no pretending left to protect. English is not a talent. It is a habit. Speak every day, make your mistakes out loud, speak again, and in three months you will not recognise yourself.

The same belief runs through the exam batches. Nobody here is told they are too late, too weak in maths, or from the wrong school.

Why students stay

What actually happens inside the classroom

No promises of guaranteed selection. Just four things we do the same way every single day.

Twenty five seats, no more

A batch closes at twenty five. The teacher knows every student by name, knows the level they walked in at, and knows the one topic each of them is avoiding. Nobody hides at the back.

You speak from the first class

Grammar rules are useless until they leave your mouth. Every session gives each student speaking time, so the fear wears off in weeks instead of years.

A test every week, ranked

Weekly mock tests under real timing, with the rank list on the notice board. Parents receive a monthly progress report so nothing comes as a surprise.

Built for Hindi medium students

Most of our students studied in Hindi medium schools. The teaching accounts for that honestly, without talking down to anyone, and the practice material is entirely in English.

An English speaking course in Hazaribag, and the exams that come after it

Two problems follow most students in Hazaribag right through their twenties. The first is that a government exam syllabus is enormous and honest guidance is scarce. The second arrives later, and hurts more: the written paper is cleared, the interview letter is in hand, and suddenly everything depends on speaking English in front of a board. WINGS exists because the same person kept turning up with both problems, a year apart.

So the two are taught in one place now. Every government exam batch carries an English speaking slot, and every English student who wants to sit an exam already knows which door to knock on. No second institute, no second fee, no second commute across town.

Why the Jharkhand papers get their own classes

SSC and Banking are taught the same way in every city in India, and we teach them properly. JSSC CGL, JPSC and the Jharkhand Police papers are a different matter. Their state sections reward specific knowledge: the tribal movements, the district map, the rivers and minerals, the state schemes and the current affairs that never reach a national newspaper. That material gets its own class and its own monthly magazine rather than being squeezed into a general awareness lecture. Students near the Bihar border who also sit BSSC and BPSC can pick up that material here too.

One thing we will not do. We do not sell guaranteed selection. We provide the classes, the tests, the notes and the discipline. The effort is yours. The result belongs to both of us.

How a course is structured

  • Foundation phase. The first two months clear the basics. Percentage, ratio and average in maths. Tenses and parts of speech in English. Series and analogy in reasoning. Nothing moves forward until this holds.
  • Practice phase. From the third month, fifty questions after every topic. Speed and accuracy are measured separately, because they fail for different reasons.
  • Test phase. The final three months are full length mock tests every week. Real timing, real OMR sheets, real pressure, so the exam hall feels familiar rather than hostile.
  • Interview phase. Once a result is out, mock interviews and a document checklist. This is free for every student, whichever course they joined.

Who the English classes are for

Not only exam candidates. The batches include college students, shop owners, nurses, schoolteachers and people working in private offices who were promoted into rooms where English is spoken. The Foundation level genuinely starts at zero, so there is nothing to be embarrassed about. Nobody is corrected for speaking Hindi in class. The English arrives on its own, a little more each week, once the fear of being laughed at is gone.

Fees and batch timings

Every fee listed on this page can be paid in monthly instalments. The morning batch starts at 6 AM so college students can attend before class, and the evening batch runs after 5 PM for people who work. Sunday is kept for tests and doubt clearing only. Call us for the current timetable, since batch timings shift a little with each new session.

Scholarship test. Each new session opens with a scholarship test. The top ten students receive between twenty five and a hundred percent off the course fee. Separate concessions apply for girl students and for the children of ex servicemen.

The man behind WINGS

Maan Sir

Director and English Faculty
English is not a talent. It is a habit. Speak every day, make your mistakes out loud, speak again, and in three months you will not recognise yourself.

He opened WINGS in 2000 with one spoken English class in Hazaribag, and he still takes the English sessions himself. Thirty thousand students later, most families in Hazaribag know somebody who learnt their English in that room.

He also runs the interview and personality sessions, which is where the English course and the exam batches meet. A candidate who has cleared a written paper should never lose the interview because nobody made them practise speaking.

Frequently asked questions

Where in Hazaribag is WINGS located?

The institute is at H.No 251, Quazi Mohalla, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand 825301. Autos run to it from both the bus stand and the railway station. A Google Maps link is on the contact page.

My English is very weak. Can I still join?

That is precisely who the Foundation batch was built for. It starts at zero, explanations are given in the language you understand, and you begin speaking on the first day. No entrance test and no prior level required.

Can the fee be paid in instalments?

Yes. The usual arrangement is a first instalment at admission and the balance monthly. Clearing the scholarship test reduces the fee further, by twenty five to a hundred percent depending on your rank.

Are there separate batches for JSSC CGL and JPSC?

Yes. JSSC CGL runs for six months and JPSC for ten. Both include a dedicated Jharkhand general knowledge class, and every enrolled student receives the state current affairs magazine each month at no extra cost.

What are the batch timings? I am working.

The morning batch runs from 6 AM to 9 AM, which fits around college or a job. The evening batch begins after 5 PM. You can choose whichever slot suits you, and switch later if your timings change.

Is the demo class really free?

It is. Attend a full session, listen to the subject teacher, look through the notes and speak to students already in the batch. Pay only if you decide to enrol.

Is study material included, or do I buy books separately?

Printed notes, practice sheets and the full test series are included in the course fee. Nothing further is charged during the course. If a particular exam needs a standard reference book, we will tell you which one and where to buy it, rather than selling it to you at a margin.
