This trips people up before they have opened a book. CTET has two papers, you may sit either or both, and the eligibility differs. Our CTET coaching in Hazaribag begins by putting every student in the right paper.
Primary stage. Usually requires 12th pass with a Diploma in Elementary Education, or a graduate with a BEd in some cases.
Elementary stage. Usually requires a graduate degree with a BEd. You choose either the maths and science stream or social studies.
Look at the mark distribution again. Child Development and Pedagogy carries thirty marks on its own, and each subject paper carries a further pedagogy component inside it. Well over half of a CTET paper is asking how children learn, not what the subject content is.
Graduates in particular underestimate this. They know the maths comfortably and assume the paper is about maths. It is not. It asks how a child of nine arrives at a wrong answer and what a teacher should do about it. That is a body of knowledge with names attached to it, and it has to be studied properly.
You sit two language papers, and they must be different languages. Most candidates in Hazaribag take Hindi as Language 1 and English as Language 2. Language 2 is where we can help more than most institutes, because both papers test language pedagogy as well as the language itself, and the English half is where marks quietly leak away.
Comprehension, grammar in context, and questions on how language is acquired and taught in a classroom. It is not literature and it does not need a strong vocabulary. It needs the rules, which are teachable in a few months, and the daily spoken English slot in this batch makes the whole paper less intimidating by the time you sit it.
JTET is the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test and it follows the same two paper structure with the same pedagogy weight. The differences that matter to you are that JTET adds Jharkhand specific content and offers regional language options, and that it qualifies you for state schools while CTET qualifies you for central schools and is accepted by many state and private schools too. Most candidates in this batch prepare for both, because the overlap is close to complete.
Qualifying, not competitive. CTET and JTET certify your eligibility to teach. Clearing one does not by itself give you a job. It makes you eligible to apply for teaching recruitment, which is the next step and a separate process.
Four months at Rs 7,000, payable monthly. Includes Child Development and Pedagogy, both language papers, Mathematics and Environmental Studies for Paper 1 or your chosen stream for Paper 2, the Jharkhand content needed for JTET, printed notes, weekly mock tests in the CTET pattern and the daily spoken English slot.

Paper 1 if you want to teach classes one to five, Paper 2 for classes six to eight. If you are eligible for both, sit both on the same day and widen the range of jobs you can apply for. The pedagogy section is shared, so the extra preparation is smaller than it looks.
The CTET certificate is now valid for life. That makes clearing it once a permanent asset rather than something you have to keep renewing.
